GYNAECOLOGY · CONDITION GUIDE
Endometriosis
A chronic condition in which tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, causing pelvic pain, painful periods, and fertility challenges.
ABOUT THIS CONDITION
What is Endometriosis?
Endometriosis occurs when tissue resembling the uterine lining implants and grows on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, or other pelvic organs. This tissue responds to hormonal cycles — thickening, breaking down, and bleeding — but has no way to exit the body. Over time, this leads to inflammation, scar tissue, cysts (endometriomas), and adhesions. It most commonly affects women of reproductive age and can significantly impact quality of life and fertility. Dr. Ashwani Narla provides comprehensive endometriosis care, from accurate diagnosis to advanced laparoscopic surgery at Lux Hospitals, Hyderabad.
